Midnight Wit is a Belgian-style white ale with a medium body and spicy, citrus overtones. The texture is silky, creamy, and refreshingly delightful. Brewed with European Pilsner malt, unmalted wheat, a blend of 5 different spices and then fermented with a classic Belgian yeast strain. Our Brewmaster learned the art of brewing tantalizing and award-winning white beers during his time in Belgium and this beer shows it.

As the sky darkens to blackness and the summer moon washes a sleek ocean, thoughts of midnight seduction send tingles up your spine. Midnight Wit, the newest temptation of the Legacy Brewing portfolio, paints the air with aromas of Florida Orange, Island Grapefruit, Kiwi, and Tropical Lemon drenched in chamomile and spice. The sunlit-straw body joins center stage with a tight, creamy head, while curtains of dense fluff cling to the inner surfaces of crystal.
Spicy flavors ignite the citrus character, applauding Belgian tradition that echoes in explosive resonance. Effervescence awakens the tongue. Tropical sharpness is softened by slick nuances of silken pleasure.
Look for Legacy Brewing on Canal Street in Reading, Pennsylvania. Legacy launched the famous Hedonism, an American Amber/Red Ale that garnered national attention a few months ago with their "hot" red, risque label and
complex, fruity c haracter. Midnight Wit and Hedonism are the first two of the Legacy Brewing family to be bottled for wider distribution. Legacy's strong growth curve in the microbrew sector commands attention. Watch this little gem in the years ahead!"
I would also like to write a full length article on Legacy. The newsletter goes out to a list of subscribers, but it is also available for the general public in the Newsletter Archive. I did want to write something on it immediately, and this was the best way to get the info out quickly.
I would like some info on the type of malts used, the hops selected, possible info on the yeast - I know that Appalachian is involved in the process, but to what extent? Are they the contract brewer, or do they just bottle the product?
Does Legacy brew their other beers on location? I'd love a tour, if available. I am in East Greenville, PA weekdays, and could make it early evening, or on a weekend.
Nice job! Cheers!
"A terrific example of a Belgian-style Wit, Midnight Wit is very pale straw color with a white head. It has complex aromas of citrus, white pepper, coriander, grapefruit and other fruits and spices. It's simply "spot on" with wonderfully rich flavors, though perhaps a bit ramped up. It uses 60% wheat and is 4.9% abv. Outstanding."

"I'd be remiss if I didn't mention the other big summer wheatie: witbier. That's the Belgian (or Belgian-style) stuff made with raw wheat that comes out cloudy and brisk with the crisp notes of added orange peel and spices. Everyone knows Hoegaarden, and Blue Moon, and Victory's Whirlwind (well, around here, they know it), and Celis White is finally back. I also got a recent sample of Legacy's new Midnight Wit, and it was delish: creamy, cool, and refreshing, tasting like another... as in this tastes like I should have another!"
